Classification – dry red wine, PGI Crete.
Varietal Composition - Mandilaria 36%, Kotsifali 11%, Syrah 48%, Vidiano 5%.
Vineyard – from Heraklion area, altitude 500 m, soil clay-loam.
Vinification - hand-harvested in 15 kg boxes. Thorough selection of grapes followed by soft destemming. Classic red vinification. Fermentation-extraction lasted 7 days at temperatures between 20-27 °C. The wine was aged in new oak barrels for 20 months.
Eye - deep ruby-red color.
Nose - dense, aromatic and high-toned nose of dark berries and nice red fruit, spice, pepper and a hint of apricot and dried orange.
Palate - balanced and savory palate of blackberry fruit and charry oak with lovely mouthfeel, good structure and an incredible long finish. A seductive wine with lots of potential.
Pairing Suggestions - juicy steaks, slow-smoked ribs or with veal Parmigiana.
Best served at 16-17 °C.
