Classification – dry red varietal wine from Greece.
Varietal Composition – Mavrotragano 100%.
Vineyard - at “Kontariotissa Pieria”, Rapsani, Mount Olympus, altitude 340-360 m.
Vinification - classical red in open-end tank, extraction of 20 days, maturation in 50% new French and American oak barrels for 18 months.
Eye - mid to light garnet with brick rim.
Nose - luxurious oak on the nose yet there is a lot of elegance along roses and spicy scents. Opens up with time.
Palate - full bodied and on the same beat on the palate with plenty of freshness and structure. Needs a couple of years to integrate fully the oak. Excellent wine with solid potential to evolve and improve.
Pairing Suggestions - with red meat on the grill or/and small red and black berries sauces.
Best served at 16-17 °C.
